Expansion Joints Adhesion Testing
|
Expansion Joint tearing-off on the plaza deck or garage along the edge of the concrete nosing allows for water penetration into the floor bellow, leading to flood. In addition, the moisture in concrete reaching the reinforcing steel creates corrosion, leading to a deleterious condition for the structure. Therefore, in addition to the intrinsic mechanical properties of the material and adequate sizing, adhesion to the concrete nosing is a key factor for an expansion joint. Testing of the adhesion of the expansion joint to the existing concrete nosing will determine its waterproofing performance.
