Expansion Joints Flood Testing
|
Micro-cracks on the expansion joints, along the joint with the concrete, in the concrete nosing, or in the membrane can contribute to leaks on the levels below. Flooding testing of the joint is performed to determine the watertight condition, or to find the path of leaks thru the deck. The testing is performed by scanning with infrared thermal imaging and impedance on the underside ceiling surface under dry condition. Then, the expansion joint is flooded with a water column, repeating the scanning under wet condition. The difference among the readings will determine the path of leaks.
