Expansion joints Movement Testing
|
If the expansion joint can't match the expansion and contraction of the deck, it would break or separate from the concrete nosing that it is bonding to. The actual and expected movement of large sections of the building due to exposure to the environment and operation loads must be measured. Operating, and wearing conditions sometimes differ with the original design of the sealants. An expansion joint testing to record the movement of the joint will be extrapolated to maximum and minimum temperatures during the year. This expected annual movement will be used to verify and specify the right expansion joint.
