High-Strength Bolts Installation Testing
|
High strength bolts are an essential part of connections in a steel framing high-rise building, that are usually subjected to heavy loads. Due to the fact that the design documents require these bolts to carry a large amount of load, in the case of failure of any of these bolts, the carrying load has to be redistributed to the rest of the bolts, and as consequence overloading them. If the overload can't be handled by the rest of the bolts, deformations or eventually collapse may be expected. The code requires that the applied torque be closely monitored during construction in order to verify contact with the joining parts.
