Excessive moisture in the concrete substrate leads to changes in volume and as a consequence shrinkage cracking if it is a bare concrete surface, de-bonding the sealant membrane, or uplift of the floor tiles. Prior to applying a coating or an overlay on an existing element or floor, testing the dryness condition of the substrate is required to avoid one of the most troubling dysfunctions and causes of deterioration. The test will be performed with surface and ambient conditions within established values. This qualitative test will indicate the presence of capillary moisture on the concrete surface.
