Post-Tensioning Strand Mapping
|
Post-tensioning strands can make an "explosive" collapse when it is hit by a chipping hammer or drilling tools representing a life threat. Furthermore, if the jacket protecting the steel strands is cut, moisture will corrode the steel strands, reducing the lifespan of the system significantly. It is important to find the location of the post tensioning cables during restoration to avoid life-threat damage or to avoid expensive consequential damage. The mapping of post-tensioning anchor pockets on the edge of the slab or cables in the concrete slab is performed using Ground Penetrating Radar technology.
