Stucco on the facade is constantly interacting with the environment. The bonding of stucco can be affected by intrinsic properties of the material, ageing, wearing caused by environmental conditions and air contaminants, and surface preparation during the original application. Adhesion, hardness, and intrinsic moisture are parameters to evaluate the performance of the stucco. Pull-Out Bonding is a destructive test that quantifies the adhesion of the stucco to the substrate. It is performed by applying a pulling load on the surface until the stucco breaks, then measuring the applied pressure.
