Shrinking grout joining the railing posts to the slab, weak fasteners or welds, corrosion activity, inadequate installation are some of the causes of railings loosing strength. Loose railings on elevated floors are not only a code compliance violation; they also represent a life safety threat. The strength of the railings and its attachments is tested by applying prescribed loads in the applicable building code, or specifications. Static Load testing of Metal Railings by applying loads in different parts of the railings will determine deflection when safeguard loads are applied.
