Woodblock and Metal Flashing Withdrawal
|
The perimeter woodblocking on roof without parapet walls, or metal flashing against parapet walls and penetration, are usually weak to resist gust winds because they are located on the edge and corners of the roofs where the wind pressure is the highest. Physical damage to these roof elements leads to immediate leaks, not only to the floor below, but it can run down the walls several floors in a high-rise building. Testing the withdrawal resistance of the perimeter woodblocking and metal flashing, prescribed by code, will test the adequate installation of those roof elements.
