Cooling Tower Enclosure Water Penetration
Spray chemicals due to cooling tower evaporation, sunlight exposure, and contaminants in the air makes an aggressive environment for masonry walls enclosure. Poor sealed masonry stucco can absorb excessive chemical contaminants contributing to water and chlorides infiltration into the block cells running by gravity down to the roof concrete slab. The Standard Test for Water Penetration and Leakage thru Masonry will determine the resistance against water and chemicals penetration and leakage through masonry. The results facilitate the selection of the proper remediation technique to repair this harmful condition, and preventing the propagation of this deficiency to the rest of the structure. This test will be performed following the standard from the American Society of Testing Materials.
