Cooling Tower Enclosure Concrete Corrosion Testing
Concrete Beams supporting the Cooling Tower are subject to chlorides, and other chemicals spray. In addition to sunlight exposure, and contaminants in the air makes an aggressive environment for the concrete framing. Active corrosion on the steel reinforcing will keep progressing inside of the concrete, escalating the concrete damage, and as result conducting to expensive repairs soon after. The results of the active corrosion testing will facilitate the selection of the proper remediation technique to repair this harmful condition, and preventing the propagation of this deficiency to the rest of the structure. The mapping of reinforcing steel corrosion rate in concrete is done by a polarization resistance technique to determine the condition, size and spacing of reinforcing embedded in the concrete.
