Steel anchor rods in the ground provide lateral stability for the seawall. The steel on the ground is subject to severe corrosion varying with the concentration of contaminants in the ground depending on the location. Continuity of the rods, location and profile will provide preliminary information about the strength of the support. Discontinuous measurements, or length will give an indication of loss of tension strength.. Ground Penetrating Radar using electromagnetic pulses technology, will map the steel anchor rods providing information about the length, profile, and continuity.
