Painting Substrate Roughness Testing
The proper and effective preparation of a surface prior to coating is essential for the quality of the painting. If the profile is too low, the adhesion of the coating to the surface will be reduced. If the profile is too high, the profile peaks will remain uncoated allowing for rust spots to occur. Testing of peak-to-valley gauge of a blast cleaned surface will provide indication of the surface roughness, and allows to compare the surface blasting procedures.
